ROLE
This role exists to make sure every idea the creative team has ships actually, and ships looking good. You'll take footage, briefs and half-formed concepts and turn them into finished reels, shorts, thumbnails, carousels and posts that are ready to publish, on time, in every format each platform needs.
This isn't a role for someone who knows one tool and waits for instructions. It's for someone who already edits because they can't help it, who watches a reel and instantly clocks the hook, the cut timing and why it worked. You'll be editing one hour, holding a light on a shoot the next, and pitching a caption after that.
It's also for someone who lives on the internet. You know which meme format is peaking this week and which one died last month. You catch the pop culture reference in a comment section before anyone explains it. You know the sound that's trending on Reels, the show everyone is quoting, and the joke that only works if you post it today. That instinct is what turns a decent edit into something people share.
The people who do well here treat the internship like the first chapter of a long career, not a certificate. Show you can own the output, and this internship can lead to a permanent position on the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Edit short-form (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) and long-form videos end-to-end: cuts, captions, music, colour correction and basic motion graphics
- Support shoots: camera and lighting setup, audio recording, and organising footage so nothing gets lost
- Design social posts, thumbnails, banners, stories and carousels as the calendar demands
- Spot trending memes, formats, sounds and pop culture moments early, and adapt them to our brands while they're still relevant
- Bring content ideas, hooks, scripts and captions to the table, not just execute other people's
- Repurpose one piece of content into every size and format each platform needs
- Keep files, assets and project folders clean enough that anyone on the team can find anything
REQUIREMENTS
- A portfolio, showreel or sample work in both video and design (this matters more than your degree)
- A proven ability to edit in Premiere Pro, After Effects or CapCut to a strong standard
- Working ability in Photoshop, Illustrator or Canva, from basic to intermediate
- Basic comfort with shooting on a smartphone, setting up lighting and recording clean audio
- Genuine fluency in meme culture and pop culture: films, series, music, sports, gaming, creators and internet trends, especially what's landing with UK and USA audiences
- A sharp eye for social media trends, pacing and storytelling
- Clear written English for captions and short scripts, with a feel for internet tone and humor
- A degree in any field, or equivalent practical skill shown through your work
RESULTS
- Content is delivered publish-ready and on deadline, without the team lead reworking it
- Every piece of content goes out in every format it needs, not just one
- Trends get caught and turned into content while they're still hot, not a week late
- Hooks and edits get sharper week over week, and it shows in the numbers
- Your own ideas make it onto the content calendar, not just your edits
- By the end of the internship, the team would struggle to run without you
CORE VALUES
The right person for this role holds these personally, not as slogans, but as how they actually operate.
You don't just consume content; you study it. You notice why a hook landed, where a cut dragged and what made someone share it. That instinct is what separates an editor from a button-presser.
Memes, movie quotes, viral sounds, fandom inside jokes, the latest drama on the timeline. You don't need any of it explained. You know what's fresh, what's overdone, and how to make a brand sound like it's in on the joke instead of late to it.
A good piece that goes out today beats a perfect piece nobody sees. Trends have a shelf life. Deliver on time, take the feedback, and make the next one better.
Notes on your work aren't criticism; they're the fastest way you'll grow. You ask for them, apply them and don't make the same mistake twice.
From the raw file to the final export, it's yours. Organised, backed up, named properly and delivered. Nobody has to chase you for it.
